The Devil is back! For 2010, it is still the great versatile frameset but we gave it a snappy fresh look. We kept our same classic “shaving cream” but have added our newest color, “martini olive”. As before, The Devil can be built up in every way imaginable. City commuter, touring, single speed, internally geared, essentially everything that a bike meant for pavement should be. The most exciting thing about The Devil this year though, is not the color. We have added upgrades! The Devil now comes with a seat collar and built in pump peg to house our custom painted frame pumps (sold separately). Handsomely, the frameset comes naked with the new for 2010 decal sheet included.
The Handsome Devil is in one sense a chameleon, for this is a frameset that is as equally at home on fast road rides as it is rolling to the Farmer’s Market, the hardware store, or the liquor store. Parallel 73° head and seat angles mean that the handling is neither sluggish, nor too twitchy. And regardless of your ride preferences, the longish top tube, combined with a medium-low 70mm bottom bracket drop, and the fork’s neutral 45mm trail measurement, give a stable, sure-footed ride. Traditional, forward-facing rear dropouts allow for derailleurs, internal-geared hubs, or single-speed transmissions.
Geometry
The Handsome Devil frameset is currently available in three sizes: 52, 55, 58cm, measured from the center of the bottom bracket to the top of the seattube.

Sample Builds

Commuter / Road / Touring (1 × 8 drivetrain)
The Devil is an awesome everyday get to your destination machine. We chose to show this build with a 1 x 8 drivetrain for its range of gears with a touch of simplicity. In a relatively flat world, we find 8 speeds to be plenty. One can manipulate the chainring to be as large as needed, change the cassette to a tight road gearing, or install a wider mountain type range cassette. Either way you only have to manipulate one shifter, smart indeed. Or if you live in a slightly more hilly area than Minneapolis (which is most of the world) slap on a front derailleur and another chainring or two and there ain’t no mountain high enough or valley low enough to keep you from getting to where you want to go. Handlebar options are endless, giving you the feel up front you desire. Clearance from a 700 × 23 to a 700 × 47 tire underneath lets you feel the speed or comfort you need on the road. No matter what tire size you choose, fenders fit fantastic, racks feel randy, and accessories are all good.

Single Speed / Fixie
It can’t get simpler than this. But that is why you want it right? Or is it the clean look you long for? Or could it be the versatility of parts you can use to build it? No matter why you want a bike like this, it is safe to say that if you use The Devil to do it, you will have a one of a kind handsome ride. No longer will you be confined to narrow 700 × 23 tires, no sir. You can spin fatties too if you like them. Brakes or not, it’s up to you. Also for those of you who use this kind of bike daily and want to run fenders and a rack, it’s clear for takeoff. Bar spin that to the bank.

Cruiser / Utility (3 speed internal coaster brake)
This is style. When you need a bike to get where you are going in comfort, this is it. Classic fit, classic look, crisp as a new $20. The Devil’s slightly sloping top tube matched with a sweep back type handle bar will give you a spectacularly upright ride. It has a slightly lower bottom bracket as well which gives it its smooth handling. Whether you are all loaded up or clean as a whistle, people will remark on what a fine gentleman or proper lass you have become. Haul your bum or your bundle to your function of choice and be assured you will arrive in fine form. Red carpet event or back yard kegger, no prince could prance up on a finer looking colt. Cheery-O!
